NY Daily News - December 31, 2003

The following letter is in memory of David Ryan, an avid SSC supporter and anti-Port Authority activist. He was an excellent human being who had great compassion for all the victims of 9/11, and was outraged by the negligence of the PA. Sally Regenhard, Monica Gabrielle and the entire SSC mourn his tragic and untimely passing and will continue to support his work.

Manhattan: I first met the forthright, dedicated, brilliant David Ryan ("Apt. blaze kills Village activist," Dec. 26) at the start of our neighborhood's battle to stop the PATH/Port Authority's Ninth St. station expansion project two years ago.

We won that round. But last month, there was talk that PATH/Port Authority were still interested in excavating the new entrances and platforms they attempted to construct previously. If they want to go for Round 2, they will find us Villagers fighting even harder and with more passion than the first time. Because now, we are fueled by the memory of David Ryan. In his honor, we will never stop the fight.
