October, 2003 Announcement:
Families of WTC Victims Needed
for Federal Investigation

Family members who spoke with victims of the World Trade Center disaster after the aircrafts' impacts are needed for voluntary interviews with investigators from the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

The NIST building and fire safety investigation is authorized by Congress. Investigators aim to improve public safety in part by collecting information about what building occupants saw and their attempts to evacuate. NIST will make recommendations for improvements in emergency preparedness and response.
